With a population of around 736,000, Frankfurt am Main is the largest city in Hesse and the fifth largest in Germany. This cosmopolitan city, which was first mentioned in a document in 794, is today known beyond Germany’s borders as THE financial and insurance metropolis and is one of the most important international financial centers. Among others, the European Central Bank, the German Federal Bank, the stock exchange, the German financial supervisory authority BaFin as well as numerous credit institutions are located here.

The cityscape is characterized by a spectacular skyscraper skyline, which is unique for Germany. More than 30 buildings have a height of over 100 meters. Frankfurt is home to 14 of the 15 German skyscrapers and the ten tallest buildings in Germany. Of these, the Commerzbank Tower, at 259 meters, has been Germany’s tallest building since 1997. Despite this big-city flair, the Main metropolis also spreads a quiet and stress-free atmosphere. In addition, the city on the Main is also known for its large trade fair grounds. With around 592,000 square meters, it is the second largest exhibition center in the world. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to be in the city in time for the Frankfurt Book Fair in the fall? Here, around 7,300 exhibitors present their latest works. In addition, the International Motor Show (IAA), one of the world’s largest and most important automotive trade fairs, is held in Frankfurt every odd-numbered year, also in the fall.

Time permitting, a short shopping stroll along the Zeil, Frankfurt’s largest and most famous shopping mile, is also recommended.

In order to end the evening after your team building in a relaxed atmosphere, there are numerous possibilities to stop for a bite to eat. For example, you will find a wide range of gastronomic offerings in the vicinity of Frankfurt’s most famous landmark, the historic city hall “Römer”, located in the center of the old town on the “Römerberg”. Or you can let yourself be served a cool “Ebbelwoi” in the world-famous “Freßgass”, on the banks of the river Main, which is especially popular in summer, or in the district of Sachsenhausen on the southern side of the river Main, which is known for its traditional and partly very old apple wine taverns.
